This Special Edition piece was commissioned. It captures the dramatic separation of the saucer section of the USS Enterprise D from its stardrive section… something that Captain Picard often stressed was a “last resort”. Surrounded by a gorgeous nebula, the saucer section dynamically banks to fly the Enterprise’s civilians to safety while the crew in the stardrive prepare to stand and fight!
